Last week was a busy and productive week of preparation for our trip in October. On Thursday I visited the Allegheny Department of Health and received the first round of my immunizations. Yellow Fever, Hepatitis A and B, Tetanus, Meningoccoccal and a four day oral dose of Typhoid. I need to return in one month for the second of a series of three Hepatitis Twinrix shots and a Polio booster. Good news, I did not pass out at the sight of all the needles. The staff was great: professional and personable.
On Saturday we received confirmation from World Vision that our project visit will take us to Ethiopia. After two days of orientation in Nairobi, we will fly to Addis Ababa and then travel by car to visit some of the Area Development Projects that World Vision has begun. I have been doing quite a bit of reading about Ethiopia over the weekend and we will share some of the highlights in a later post.
And last night at a neighborhood gathering, I had the opportunity to share our venti dream with some friends outside our community of faith. It was encouraging to hear of their interest and I look forward to inviting them into the partnership as time unfolds.
